Couples Therapy
Whether you’re experiencing difficulties in your relationship or working through a major life transition, I’m here to help. I work with couples to help them develop deeper connection, more effective communication, and greater understanding of each other’s emotional worlds.
How I Work with Couples
I am trained in the PACT methodology (Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy), which puts partners in each other’s care. In our work together, couples learn to recognize each other’s emotional distress and to help soothe each other relationally. This approach is grounded in attachment theory, neuroscience, and arousal regulation—it helps partners understand not just what happens between them, but why it happens.
Rather than focusing solely on communication techniques, we work to understand the deeper patterns that create disconnection. We explore how your nervous systems interact, how past attachment experiences shape present reactions, and how to create a secure-functioning relationship where both partners feel safe and valued.
What We Address Together
Here are some of the common challenges I help couples navigate.
- Recurring conflicts and destructive communication patterns
- Emotional distance and loss of intimacy
- Trust and repair after betrayal or hurt
- Life transitions, parenting stress, and family dynamics
- The impact of anxiety, depression, or trauma on the relationship
- Differences in desire, connection, and emotional needs
A Holistic Approach
Because we are complex human beings, I work holistically—considering not just thoughts and behaviors, but also how emotions and stress live in your bodies, how your nervous systems regulate (or dysregulate) together, and how mindfulness can help you stay present with each other even during difficult moments.
My background in both clinical psychology and family therapy, combined with my training in interpersonal neurobiology and somatic work, allows me to help couples understand their relationship from multiple perspectives.
Getting Started
I offer couples therapy through in-person sessions at my Atwater Village office and online video sessions. I invite you to contact me for an initial conversation about how I may be able to help you and your partner strengthen your relationship.
