About Dr. Bergemann
Dr. Bergemann
Dr. Bergemann received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara. He has an M.A. degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, Los Angeles.
He also holds an MBA in Finance and International Business from the University of Chicago.
Professional Expertise and Achievements
Dr. Bergemann has worked as the Director of Professional Training at the Mindsight Institute with Daniel Siegel, M.D., and was part of the regular study groups in neurobiology of both Dr. Siegel and Allan Schore, Ph.D. for five years. He is also a past Clinical Director in Los Angeles for A Home Within, a nationwide non-profit organization providing psychotherapy to current and former foster care youth. He has been a volunteer therapist with A Home Within since 2009.
Dr. Bergemann has completed advanced training in trauma treatment and attachment, working somatically with the body, with Dr. Pat Ogden in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. He has trained in the PACT model of Couples Therapy with Dr. Stan Tatkin. He has been adjunct faculty at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology where he taught Developmental Neurobiology. He holds a certificate in Couples Therapy and Human Sexuality through UCLA.
Post-Doctoral Training and Diverse Expertise
Dr. Bergemann did his post-doctoral training at the Reiss-Davis Child Study Center and at Valley Community Clinic. He also trained at the Linden Center, working with emotionally disturbed children and adolescents in psychotherapy in a non-public school setting.
In addition, he trained in the medical genetics research lab of Dr. Richard Boles at Childrens Hospital, Los Angeles.
Prior to becoming a Psychologist, Dr. Bergemann worked for a decade in Finance for Disney’s International Film division.
